What do we do with our bodies when they are no longer the main agents of our very existence? USELESS BODIES? spans over 3,000 m2, at Fondazione Prada and explores how we physically adapt to a world increasingly based on two-dimensional imagery not least in light of the current pandemic. A number of immersive installations deal with our changing perception of the body and its position in today’s society, investigating its status in public space, at work, at leisure, and at home. Elmgreen & Dragset question how various industries and technologies are changing the way we exercise, spend money and interact with our own health, not to mention how we perceive ourselves, develop our identities, and relate to others. When our bodies find themselves excluded from a large part of reality, what happens to our definition of self and our value systems?
