Harald Martenstein was a member of the DKP (German Communist Party), then a "Zeit" columnist for 20 years, and today writes for "BILD." He deliberately broke with the Left.
Michael Roth has been in the SPD for 39 years and served in the Bundestag for a long time. Today he feels like he's "in a refrigerator" within his own parliamentary group – but he stays.

Why does one leave, why does the other stay? Has Martenstein changed his thinking – or has the Left? Is he on the right today? And Roth: Why does he remain loyal to a party in which he feels like a stranger? When do you leave your political home, and when do you fight for it?"
